FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We've got answers. No fluff, no runaround — just the information you need about AMD products, process, and what makes us different.

What is GSM and why does it matter?

GSM stands for Grams per Square Meter — the universal measurement for fabric weight. Higher GSM means heavier, thicker, more substantial fabric. Most mall brand tees sit around 150-180 GSM. Premium streetwear brands range from 300-380 GSM. AMD tees are 425 GSM — the heaviest in the category. It matters because GSM directly correlates with durability, drape, comfort, and how long your tee actually lasts.

How heavy is 425 GSM, really?

Put it this way: a typical hoodie is 350-400 GSM. Our t-shirts have more fabric density than most hoodies on the market. When you pick up an AMD tee, you'll feel the difference immediately — it has genuine heft and substance without being stiff or uncomfortable. It's the kind of weight that makes everything else feel cheap by comparison.

What does "garment-dyed" mean?

Most tees are made from pre-dyed fabric (piece-dyed). We do the opposite — we construct the entire shirt first in raw cotton, then dye the completed garment. This creates richer, deeper color with natural variation, a softer hand-feel from day one, and color that ages gracefully instead of fading in blotches. Every AMD tee is genuinely one-of-a-kind because of how dye interacts with the finished garment's seams, folds, and fabric density.

How does AMD compare to Represent, Cole Buxton, and Fear of God?

On fabric weight alone, we outweigh them all. Represent runs 350 GSM at $55-70. Cole Buxton is 380 GSM at $65-85. Fear of God Essentials is 380 GSM at $40-60. AMD is 425 GSM at $48 — more fabric, garment-dyed finish, double-stitched construction, at a price that undercuts most of the competition. We're not saying those are bad brands. We're saying the numbers speak for themselves.

What's the fit like? How should I size?

AMD tees have a relaxed, modern fit — not boxy, not slim. The heavyweight fabric creates a structured drape that skims your frame without clinging. We recommend going true to size for most builds. If you're between sizes or prefer a more oversized look, size up one. Check our size guide on each product page for exact measurements.

How do I care for my AMD tees?

Simple: wash cold, inside out, gentle cycle. Air dry flat or on a wide hanger when possible. If you use a dryer, low heat only. Avoid bleach — it'll damage the garment-dyed finish. That's it. The 425 GSM fabric is built to handle regular wear and washing without losing shape, and the garment-dyed color actually improves with age when cared for properly.

Will the colors fade?

Not the way you're thinking. Piece-dyed shirts fade in ugly, blotchy patches. Garment-dyed fabric evolves — the color develops more character over time, similar to how a good pair of raw denim ages. It's a feature, not a bug. Your AMD tee at year two will have a unique patina that looks better than day one. Follow the care instructions (cold wash, no bleach) and you'll love how your tees develop over time.

Who's behind AMD?

Anchor Me Down was founded by people who got tired of the compromise. Tired of paying premium prices for lightweight fabric. Tired of "luxury basics" that fell apart in three months. Tired of brands that talk quality but can't back it up with specs. We built AMD to be the brand we wanted to buy from — transparent about materials, honest about process, and obsessive about getting the fundamentals right.

What does "Stay Anchored" mean?

It's our philosophy. In a market full of trends, hype cycles, and disposable fashion, we believe in staying grounded. Build something substantial. Don't chase trends — set a standard. Stay Anchored means investing in quality that lasts, being confident in who you are, and not getting pulled around by what everyone else is doing. It's on every label because it's in everything we make.

Where are your products made?

Our tees are manufactured using premium cotton and constructed with double-stitched seams at every stress point. The garment-dye process happens after construction, ensuring every piece meets our 425 GSM standard. We work with manufacturing partners who share our commitment to quality and ethical production practices.

What's your return policy?

We stand behind every piece we sell. If your AMD tee doesn't meet your expectations, we'll make it right. Check our Returns & Exchanges page for full details on timelines and process. We want you to be completely satisfied — because once you feel 425 GSM garment-dyed quality, we're confident you won't want to go back.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We ship worldwide because heavyweight quality shouldn't be limited by geography. International shipping rates and delivery times vary by destination — you'll see exact costs at checkout. All orders are carefully packaged to ensure your tees arrive in perfect condition, no matter where you are.
